LOREZE is used to relieve the symptoms of hay fever and upper respiratory tract allergies, like sneezing, runny nose, itchy, watery eyes, itchy nose or throat and urticaria.
LOREZE is composed of an active ingredient called loratadine, which is a long-acting antihistamine. Antihistamines are a class of drugs that treat symptoms of allergies. These drugs block the effect of histamine, a substance normally released in the body when it detects something harmful. Histamine causes the blood vessels to expand and skin to swell, which helps protect the body against the harmful substance. In case of allergies, the action of histamine is blocked to reduce the symptoms of the allergic reaction.
Adults and children above 12 years of age can take 1 capsule per day or as directed by your physician.
A lower dose of LOREZE can be given to patients with renal insufficiency, whose glomerular filtration rate is less than 30ml per minute, or who have hepatic impairment. In these conditions, the drug clearance rate is reduced, which means that the drugs are not easily eliminated from the body. Hence, such patients should consult the doctor before taking LOREZE.
The drug clearance rate decreases with age. Thus, LOREZE should be given at a lower dose in geriatric patients. Please contact your doctor for further information.
After taking LOREZE, you may feel lack of energy, dizziness, migraine, sometimes anxiety, headache and mild sedation.
There are no sufficient studies that suggest LOREZE is safe and efficient in pregnant women. Moreover, the active ingredient, loratadine can pass through the breast milk. Hence, caution must be taken in pregnant and nursing women, and LOREZE should be taken under the doctor’s supervision.
LOREZE may have a sedative effect on some patients and may cause drowsiness, especially when 20 – 40 mg dose is taken. Thus, caution must be practised while taking LOREZE.
Yes, LOREZE can be taken along with antibiotics like erythromycin, as no adverse effects have been reported. However, consult your doctor before taking LOREZE and antibiotic
