PHENZ contains diphenhydramine hydrochloride which is an antihistamine substance that has sedative effects on the brain.
PHENZ is used to temporarily treat insomnia symptoms, hypersensitivity reactions, and in the prevention and treatment of vertigo associated with motion sickness, nausea ,vomiting and as treatment for tremors in Parkinsonism.
Adults or children 12 years old or older should take 1 capsule every 4-6 hours, not exceeding 6 capsules per day for hypersensitivity reactions and motion sickness.
Diphenhydramine is a first generation antihistamine. It can cross the blood brain barrier and produce sedation due to inhibition of certain histamine related processes. It may also act on other central nervous system receptor sites such as those for serotonin, acetylcholine etc.
Some of the side effects of PHENZ include drowsiness, dryness of mouth, nose or throat, gastrointestinal upset, stomach pain, nausea, headache, increased appetite or weight gain, pharyngitis and thickening of mucus.
PHENZ should not be used by those with hypersensitivity or intolerance to any component of the product. Furthermore, PHENZ should be used with caution in people with hepatic function impairment and renal function impairment, bladder neck obstruction, prostatic hypertrophy, urinary retention, and glaucoma.
