NAT D may not cause any side effects if taken according to the prescribed dosage and duration.
It is not recommended to take NAT D along with anti-cholesterol medications such as cholestyramine, colestipol and mineral oil, as these substances decrease the absorption of vitamin D.
The use of NAT D with thiazides in patients with hypoparathyroidism (low levels of parathyroid hormone), may result in hypercalcemia (high calcium levels). Therefore, it is not recommended to use NAT D along with these medications.
People with known hypersensitivity to any of the components of NAT D, patients with hypercalcemia (high calcium levels), pregnant women and patients with vitamin D toxicity must avoid using NAT D.
NAT D (Cholecalciferol) should be used cautiously in patients taking digoxin or any cardiac glycosides (medication for heart conditions) as it may increase arrhythmias (irregular rhythm of heartbeat).
